Also, in the top 20 used cameras, we have four RAWsumers. Obviously the used market is more skewed towards the DSLRs, but still a decent showing for the RAWsumers.

So with that as a preface, here is a gallery of pictures taken with the camera, from Southern California (Pasadena). (via dpreview Samsung forum).

Chuck Westfall explains lack of 3:2 crop in Canon G-series

The Imaging Insider reminds us that the latest issue of the Digital Journalist is out! One of the questions asked of Chuck is why do the Canon G-series RAWsumers not offer a 3:2 in-camera crop mode?

Chuck answers by pointing out that there is an LCD aid for composition, and the actual 3:2 crop is left to the photographer to do in post-processing.

Stone-walling or denial? You decide ;-)

Ricoh GX200 with viewfinder for $490 (or try it for one week with no commitment!)

If you had been interested in the Ricoh GX200 but was discouraged by the high prices, you may want to check out this kit offered at Adorama, you can get the GX-200 plus the VF-1 viewfinder for $490 with free shipping and handling. The VF1 of course is the removable optional LCD viewfinder. If you are not interested in the viewfinder, they have a standard kit for $440, however it is not currently in-stock. The viewfinder on its own goes for $100+, so even if you don't want it, you can also trade it with another photographer or sell it on eBay/craigslist/forums/etc.

However, if you don't want to risk a purchase without touching the camera, there is an alternative! PopFlash is offering a one-week trial of the camera. You pay $10 for shipping to you, plus the shipping cost to return the camera back to them. There is no commitment to buy the camera! They will however bill you with the full price during the trial, to make sure the camera is returned to them promptly. So when you ship it back to them, be sure to use a reliable shipping service with tracking, and select an appropriate level of insurance so you can sleep easy at night!

At the same time, the D-Lux 4 remains in the line-up without a replacement - it is listed in the brochure along with all the new models.

We will know more in the next few days with the official 9/9/09 live webcast announcement, although we'll probably see more leaks beforehand.
