Panasonic disappoints as they deliver no RAWsumers!

Today's Panasonic announcement was highly anticipated because their current line-up is filled with RAWsumers (compared to other manufacturers). However, Panasonic managed to disappoint as out of the eight cameras they announced, ZERO support RAW :-(

We were hoping we would see something in the LX-series, perhaps something in the big FZ-series, perhaps a more "grown up" TZ-series with RAW and PSAM. And perhaps something with a 4/3rds sensor or something bigger than the usual sensors.

Instead we got small sensor cameras, using 1/2.5" or 10mp 1/2.3" sensor digital cameras.

On the plus however, the Panasonic FX35 is promising is that Panasonic is committed to starting the wide angle wars, which are more palatable than megapixel wars. The FX35 starts at 25mm wide.

Given the modest model name, we can hope that we see future cameras from Panasonic going wide(r) as well. This perhaps may be a good sign for future LX-series or revitalized LC-series cameras. Well, we can dream :-)

In the meantime, we can only buy what is made and what is available!

Amin Foto also has some thoughts on the new Panasonic Lumixs. If the Amin Foto blog name sounds familiar, you may have seen their excellent nine-part series comparing the Leica D-Lux 2 with the Canon G7 and the Ricoh GX100. If you haven't seen it before, be sure to check all nine parts!
