New RAWsumer: Fuji S100 FS Finepix with an 11mp 2/3" Super CCD sensor

Yes, we have a new RAWsumer to report! Fuji has announced seven new cameras today, and one of them is a RAWsumer! That's right! And not just any RAWsumer, but one that uses a 2/3" Super CCD sensor. The first of its kind infact, since the largest SuperCCD sensor used in non-DSLRs so far has been 1/1.6" at 12mp. Even better Fuji has shown restraint as this "only" has 11 megapixels. As you may recall the last time we had 2/3" prosumers, they were at 8mp. Here is a list of them, from 2002 to 2008.

Anyways, this camera features an 28-400mm stabilized lens, with a zoom ring, RAW of course, tiltable LCD, LiIon battery, promises of improved dynamic range even though it is a SuperCCD-HR, not SuperCCD-SR. This is the 8th generation of Super CCD sensors, and 3rd generation of the RPP (Real Photo Processor).

More details on this camera at 1001 Noisy.

The camera is available for pre-ordering at Amazon for $800.
